TAKE COURAGE

Don't forget to use your homework time this week to work on your anthologies.

What if you don't even understand what the texts are about?

Well the most desperate measure would be to go back to the first lesson we worked on these texts and open the online version of the texts. There you could use a translation tool to give you some idea about what is going on!
(However, the idea is that your vocabulary level should be expanding all the time!)

This Wednesday, as you can read on the planner, we will be doing the mock writing exercise.

The theme is courage. So, today I want you to start looking for resources to help you prepare for writing about it.

In the national test at English 6 level you will receive preparation materials a week before the test- to get you thinking..

Today there will be "Improve your writing" booklets to remind you about some important issues.

Here are five key words you need to think about:-

  1. Organization
  2. Structure
  3. Style
  4. Clarity
  5. Register
The last thing I want to go through with you is the Writing skills  the checklist!

Use your time wisely.

Don't forget all the great advice Pernilla gave you last year on her blog
http://sa14es14.blogspot.se/2014/11/week-47.html

One last idea.

In small groups you can decide what grade to give the essay on
"Smoking ruins your health" from a theme about TEMPTATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anthology and book talk

Back on the 24th August I asked you to borrow a novel of YOUR choice to read this term....

Hopefully many of you have read it and all of you will give a short book talk in small groups before Christmas.

From today onwards there will be an opportunity for those

who want to get their book assignment out of the way.

Be prepared to talk about:

  • The story

  • The characters

  • The setting

  • The message/relevance of your book.

Otherwise today we are going to work on the anthology.

The anthology consists of short extracts (utdrag) from

classic works in English from the UK and USA.

All of them are at least 100 years old.

Some are easier to understand and some are harder.

Your task is to find out a little about the author then read

(listen to) the texts and work out what each one is about.

You can write a short comment about them ( try to do all

the texts if possible) and make a wordlist from the

anthology.

All questions don't hesitate to ask father Christmas!!!

Week 47 we will talk about literary periods and you can

do the final task then.
