Invisible Children- follow-up

On Monday we watched a documentary called "Invisible Children"
made by three young people from the USA

Today we are going to do some follow up in eight groups
with eight different topics.

1. In the film they talk about an organisation called GUSCO which helped the kids.

Try to find out more about it

2. Invisible Children didn't stop with a film.
Find out 10 different strategies they have used to increase awareness and get funding

3. Stop Kony 2012 was a big drive by Invisible Children. What was its aim and what happened?

4. Try to find out more about other conflicts where child soldiers have been involved

5. "Beasts of no nation" is a feature film from 2015 that examines the issue of Child soldiers.
Find out some information about the film and its message.

6. Child Soldiers international is an organisation working to stop the use of children in conflicts.
Find out about their work.

7. Go in on the Human Rights' Watch homepage and get some facts to present about Child Soldiers in the World.

8.When people think about Child soldiers they focus on Africa.
Find out some information about child soldiers in Burma.

After 30 minutes each group will give a short presentation/feedback about the information they have found out.

Reschedule II

Still far from done with the National tests.

I have put the results of those who are done out on Vklass.

Next Wednesday we will have a short grade talk..

Today:

1. Do the hand-out from Monday about the first five chapters of "No. 1 Ladies"

2. Continue to read page 59- 120 in the book.

There will be a new hand-out on these pages after the Spring break (Sportlov)

Need to reschedule!

So many people missed the national test ( either parts) that we need to get those done today and also do the work sheet for the first sixty pages of "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency"

The revision for "Homesick"- should have been a mini-test on Wednesday will be postponed (NOT cancelled!) and will be replaced by some grade talks and some station work.

The handout for today is on the TD. You can TAW when you are CD.

Last chance café on book talks- class meeting directly afterwards
