Today we continue working with your own planning.

This gives you a chance to do something of your choice.

I have given some feedback to you about what you need to think about. In most cases you need to be SPECIFIC.

  • Which of the 4 language skills am I going to work with (speaking, listening, writing, reading)?

  • What resources are available? (Text book, handouts, internet)

Presentations and reflections

Today we will finish off our theme about gender, identity and sexuality.

Here are the original instructions

Gender – Sexuality – Identity

Instructions for group work

1        Watch all the clips and read all the articles on the list enclosed (all groups)

2        Go through again the clips or articles that your group has to focus on and discuss the following points for each one of them:

What is the main issue in each of the clips or articles?

Are there any views expressed in the clips/articles that you don’t agree with or find provocative? If so, give examples.

From each clip/article, choose one quotation or short extract that you find interesting to discuss.

Add your own questions and ideas to discuss.

3        Each group must have a secretary who takes notes and sends them to all group members after each class. You take turns being the secretary. Don’t forget to keep a track of your own ideas (to be handed in on Wednesday 13th Oct.)

4        Group presentation and discussion in class (Same day)

We do this by giving short presentations from the different groups commenting on the resources which were provided.

You should also, by the end of the class, have sent in your personal reflection based on the questions.

English 6

Gender – Sexuality – Identity

Personal Reflections

You have during the past two weeks had the opportunity to watch

some clips and read some articles all dealing with gender, sexuality

and identity. As a final task you will now write down your personal  reflections concerning these issues. Answer the following questions:

·        Was it interesting to focus on these issues? Explain by giving examples! If not, explain why.

·        Is it important to discuss these issues? Why?/Why not? Explain!

·        Were there any views in the clips and articles that you don’t agree with or find provocative? If so, give examples and explain your standpoint.
·        Did any of the clips or articles work as an eye-opener to you? If so, which one of them? Explain!

·        Did you change your mind about any of the views expressed in the clips or articles? In what way?

·        Was this a good way of taking up these issues – to watch clips, read articles, discuss with friends, present your ideas and finally write about it?

·        Your own ideas.

Write at least one page, but not more than two!

Good luck!
