Results, Reading and Test (for those who missed it)

Today is the last lesson before our Easter break.

Last time many of you did a test on No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.

Today we will go through the results of this and look at the other items whch have been graded.

Your task today is to make sure that you have read the next section of the book  pages 121- 178.

We will be doing exercises on these pages directly after the Easter holidays...

There will be group and individual tasks- including role plays and interviews.

Welcome visitors from Uganda




Today we welcome our friends from Soroti.

A number of you will be visiting Soroti this autumn.

We want to make our visitors feel welcome.

Today we are going to sing together a couple of songs in Swedish about the summer and then an English ballad called "Proud Mary"..

Jag gör himlen vacker om kvällen, för jag gör den alldeles skär. Och smultron det gör jag åt barna, för det tycker jag dom kan få, och andra små roliga saker som passar när barnen är små. Och jag gör så roliga ställen, där barnen kan springa omkring, då blir barna fulla med sommar och bena blir fulla med spring.

Continue with the writing assignment

Today we continue with the writing assignment (some of you will need to start it) and I want to get around to as many of you as possible during the lesson to give feedback and do some corrections.

ES students are responsible for bringing allow musical instruments and prepare a song in English and Swedish we can sing together.

Interview, writing and No. 1 ladies

Hi everyone and welcome back after the mid-term break. We start off by doing an interview about your holidays  (lovet) and  discussing about what you like to do on a holiday (semester)


Holiday & Holidays

Interview your neighbour by using the following questions. Don't forget to write down his/her answers.

1. Where did you spend your mid-term holidays  (Sportlovet)?


2. Where did you spend your best holiday ? Why did you enjoy it so much ?


3. Would you prefer to have your holiday in Sweden or abroad ? Why ?


4. Which of the following countries would you like to/not like to visit for a holiday ? Give your reasons.  a)Croatia  b)Greece   c)Norway   d) Kenya.



5. If you had a lot of money (money no object) where would you go for a holiday ?


6. Put the following holidays in order of preference  (1-8) where 1 is the most interesting and 8 is the least interesting:
a) A package holiday in Ibiza.
b) A trekking (walking/hiking) holiday in the Alps.
c) An adventure holiday with camping & outdoor activities in the North of Sweden.
d) On safari in Kenya
e) A sailing holiday in the Mediterranean

When Precious opens her office what case is described? How can we see that she is very clever in the way in which she solves it?

Boy- is a case which Precious returns to several times. Why do you think this is the case? What feeling does this short chapter give the reader?

3. Chapter 8
Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni becomes a good friend of Precious (and eventually more than that! )What do they have in common and what do they talk about?

4. Chapter 9
The Boyfriend
This is the case which takes the biggest space in the book.
Describe in your own words what it is about.

writing assignment- Today and Wednesday

Choose one of the topics and write at least 300 words about it:-

1. Social media
How important is social media for young people today? Which applications do you use and why to communicate with your peers?

2.Feminism and Equality
How far have we come in Sweden in bringing equality between the sexes? What steps are required to improve this situation?

3. Racism
When will we ever learn to live together? What are the sources of racism in our present day world and how can we deal with the situation?
